A bookbinding and natural ink workshop inspired by the Flesh of the Forest exhibition.
OXY ARTS, 4757 York Blvd. Los Angeles CA 90042
Join us for the first workshop of a three-part free art-making workshop series. In the series, we will be creating projects inspired by our current exhibition, Flesh of the Forest, curated by Tiffany E. Barber. The exhibition features nine contemporary artists from the African diaspora who engage with the forest as a rich, multilayered site of history, memory, sensation, and feeling through sculpture, painting, film, and installation.
Workshop #1: Bookbinding and Natural Ink
In this workshop, we will use the saddle-stitch method to combine papers of various textures to create our own unique books. To adorn our homemade books, we will make inks from natural materials such as dried hibiscus, turmeric, and purple cabbage.
This is part of a free event series and all supplies are provided by OXY ARTS. Please RSVP above.
Note: All artists under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
This iteration of Making Space is facilitated by Blue Reinhard.
Stay tuned for the themes of our next two workshops!
