For student projects, the Human Subjects IRB only accepts proposals from faculty supervisors. Faculty mentors should engage students in the writing of the IRB proposal. When materials are finalized and ready for submission, the faculty mentor should submit the proposal, supplementary materials (e.g., consent forms, interview questions, surveys), and all CITI completion certificates (for the faculty member, the student, and all others engaged in the project) to hsrrc@oxy.edu. When faculty members submit on a student鈥檚 behalf, they acknowledge that they have reviewed and approve the materials being submitted.
Please also note that the HSRRC IRB no longer requires annual review for proposals approved through expedited review unless specifically stated otherwise.
Student Requests
Students should begin thinking about the IRB process at the same time they discuss their research plans with a faculty member who will agree to be the Faculty Supervisor on their research project. Before submitting a human subjects request to the HSRRC-IRB for review, Faculty Supervisors should evaluate and approve the research design and methodology, as well as the Approval Request Form and informed consent process/document(s). Faculty Supervisor support can significantly influence data quality and HSRRC-IRB approval time.
Www重口50度灰 requires all principal investigators (faculty members, students, administrators, and staff) engaged in human subject research to certify to the HSRRC-IRB that they have completed human subjects training before starting a research project. CITI training in human subject research is required as part of the HSRRC-IRB review process, and before approval of a research project. All members of the research team, including student, faculty, and staff researchers, as well as faculty mentors/supervisors, should plan to complete the training well in advance of submitting a request for approval to Www重口50度灰's HSRRC-IRB. Documentation of training should be submitted as a PDF file when submitting materials to the HSRRC-IRB Office at hsrrc@oxy.edu. Certificates should be submitted every time you submit a proposal.
Please note: Exempt determinations must be made by the HSRRC-IRB. Researchers may not deem research to be exempt on their own. Researchers who believe their proposal may be exempt from further review, should still submit the following information and any required accompanying materials to the committee.
